The Bluejays put the game out of reach in the first half by building a 40-0 lead.
“The guys needed this tonight. They fought so hard the last couple of weeks and came up short. So to come out and dominate a game like this is a great confidence boost heading into the playoffs,” said Ashland-Greenwood Coach Ryan Thompson.
The Bluejays scored three times in the first quarter with the first touchdown coming on a 23-yard run from quarterback Conor Sapp.
The next score was turned in by the defense when Blake Kitrell recovered a fumble in the end zone.
The next score came on a big pass play from Sapp to Reid Beranek. The two hooked up on a 54-yard scoring play, making the score 20-0 home team.
The Bluejays added 20 more points in second quarter.
Touchdown runs by Shane Meyers (two-yard run) and Josh Hohensee (51-yard run) preceded an exciting 50-yard scoring pass from Spencer Mumma to Beranek. Mumma took a reverse pitch, pulled up and found a wide open Beranek streaking down the field for a score to end the half.
Auburn scored the only points of the second half while Thompson was trying to get many of the regulars some rest on the sidelines.
The Bluejay offense piled up 337 yards while the Bulldogs produced 271 yards.
The Bluejays will host a their first-round playoff game on Thursday night when they welcome Wisner-Pilger to Ashland. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
