Season ends for RHS golfers

Published: Thursday, October 15, 2009 2:26 PM CDT

Ralston High School’s girls golf season came to a close Monday at the District A-4 tournament at Pioneers Golf Course in Lincoln.

The Rams finished eighth in the eight-team field on a cool and windy day.

“We played our worst tourney of the year in some tough conditions,” said RHS coach Wes Kosch.

Junior Kasandra Smith, who medaled in five tournaments this fall, shot a 120 to again top the Rams’ scorecard.

“[Kasandra] was really disappointed,” Kosch said.

Kosch said Smith’s success throughout the season didn’t come as a surprise.

“She plays and practices all summer,” Kosch said. “She works on her game.”

Two seniors (Jaclyn Schulz and Emily Hackett) and two freshmen (Hannah Han and Maddie Kreiser) also competed in districts.

Getting the two freshman acclimated to the high school golf scene, Kosch said, bodes well for the Rams.

“It’s good for our program having that youth on the team,” he said. “We definitely have some good gals to work with next year.”
